Aachen China Office ACO
Aachen China Office ACO The Aachen China Office ACO is the representative of the Aachen region in Ningbo. It provides Chinese enterprises with information on the location, the business environment, market opportunities and the regulatory and social framework for setting up a business in Germany.
The ACO Team gives presentations on the cities and business locations in the area, describes the infrastructural factors and various fields of technology. Basically speaking, the team is there to give any advice and guidance Chinese companies may require on their way to setting up business in the Aachen region.
Expanding on the acquisition of Chinese investors is now a major focus point of the AGIT Regional Marketing team.
In May 2008 the City of Aachen, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Aachen, Sparkasse, AGIT and ECS Roetgen signed a cooperation agreement on marketing the Aachen region in Ningbo, China. The objective of this agreement is to provide information for Ningbo-based enterprises on the business location and the investment opportunities they will have.
In the course of May the Aachen China Office went into operation.
Only a month later, in June, the Aachen region was represented at the Zhejiang Investment and Trade Show (ZJITS) by a member of staff specially recruited for the project.
At the beginning of July the Chinese version of the website www.technologieregion-aachen.de went online. The Chinese site can be accessed from the home page where there is a Chinese “Welcome” button that links to the ACO. This link provides a host of information: an overview of the region, a short text on the twin-town agreement between Aachen and Ningbo, the services provided by AGIT and ECS in investor counselling, the legal background on setting up business in Germany and the specific features that apply for non-EU enterprises. The site will be updated regularly and possibly extended by a reference catalogue of Chinese firms already based in the Aachen region.

The business conferences and delegation visits organised by the ACO have since resulted in direct contact with more than 40 Chinese companies interested in the Aachen region as a business location.
