There's nothing coincidental, for example, about the fact that Aixtron and Parsytec were founded here, that global players such as Ericsson, Ford or Microsoft have settled in the direct vicinity of teaching and research institutions. Firms profit from the excellent opportunities for research and development offered through the co-operation with world-famous research institutions.
A large pool of practically trained experts from the renowned universities also guarantees a steady supply of highly qualified employees.

Regional cluster initiatives and networks have been successfully established here and provide valuable contacts with the economy.
Development teams from industry and science work together closely and offer companies the chance to use a technical infrastructure and comprehensive scientific know-how that is unique in Europe.
