Service for existing companies

The Aachen region has numerous initiatives that support the growth of existing companies:

The AC² - growth initiative

The AC² - growth initiative is primarily aimed at SMEs from the Aachen region. It wants to strengthen the competencies of the companies and help them develop and implement a growth strategy. The initiative is organised as a competition, whereby the growth plans that are received are submitted to a jury of businessmen, academics and financial experts for their assessment. The jury rates the potential of the growth plans on the basis of fixed criteria and nominates the winners of the AC² growth prize.

Technology transfer offices at the universities

RWTH Aachen University and Aachen University of Applied Sciences offer not only a wide range of courses but are also a pool of knowledge and the latest research results. Transfer offices were set up in both universities to grant companies access to this knowledge and to initiate joint research projects. read more>>

Company succession

A structured and systematic approach to the company handover is a managerial task and challenge that every owner of an SME has to tackle early enough if they don't want to put their life's work at risk. In order to facilitate the difficult job of finding a successor, the KfW set up the joint initiative "Change/Chance". This is a nation-wide network that aspires to a cooperation with all institutions involved with SMEs. The chambers of commerce in the region offer extensive counselling. Particular support is provided not only in the search for a suitable successor but also the development of a succession plan and assistance in drafting the business figures. Both chambers also supervise the transfer / takeover on request.
